WHAT IS A SCHOLARLY ARTICLE?

Scholarly or Peer Reviewed articles are written by experts in the field and reviewed by a panel experts in the field.  They include research and data, and the information in the article is backed up by a list of references. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Popular articles are often written by journalists for a general audience and are not reviewed by experts in the field.  Popular articles rarely include references.

Start with a basic search


Look for different forms of a word by adding an asterisk*:   prison*  looks for prison  and  prisoner  and  prisoners

Look for varations on a word by using OR:   prison OR incarceration

Look for an exact phrase by using " ":   "prison industrial complex"
