First, identify the in-text citation with a superscript number after the punctuation. Second, place the corresponding full citation into a notes section and, third alphabetize the full citations in the bibliography (a bibliography is optional when using an endnotes page).
Notes sections:
• Footnotes are at the bottom of the content page.
• Endnotes are on a separate page at the end of the paper.
Part 1: In-text citation:
The Library at the Hearst Castle housed more than 4,000 books and ancient Greek vases.1
Part 2: Notes entry:
As a full note:
1. Kastner, Victoria. Hearst Castle: The Biography of a Country House. (New York: Henry N. Abrams, Inc.), 142.
As a shortened note (for subsequent citations of the same source):
2. Kastner, Victoria, Hearst Castle, 157.
Part 3: Bibliography entry
